Best at West

Dennis Wang, Toby Macabugao and Mia Ramos swam best times at the West Coast Aquatics meet held in the blistering heat on 6/27 and 6/28.    For Dennis and Mia ,who have just aged up into new age groups, it was about working towards and beyond getting A time standards.   Dennis improved times drastically in the breast stroke races receiving 2 new A times in his new age group.  He also swam the 800 free in a perfect strategic race, descending 100’s throughout.  All of his races were evenly split or negatively split.  Dennis is a coaches dream.  Mia Ramos, new to the team, showed that she is a thinking swimmer.  Very competitive and willing to do what she is asked.  She also swam best times in her races and received new A times.  Toby Macabugao  again shattered times.  Placing first at the meet with a WZQT  Western Zone Qualifying Time in the 50 breast.  He also earned a Far Western cut in the 100 free and a JO cut in the 200 fly.  These three swam well for a tough week at practice, with no rest and a tri-meet on Friday.  I was very impressed with these three and no other team showed the streamlines and finishes our swimmers had.  All three won numerous heats and took off a great deal of time off of their events.
