What to expect

There are no cards for this meet.  Please help us by paying attention to the event numbers that are being announced and make sure that your swimmer is where he/she needs to be. Swimmers should be in the team area at all times sitting down and resting in the shade unless they are warming up, warming down or getting ready to swim. Heat and Lane assignments will be posted in several areas around the pool deck about 20 minutes before the start of the race. If a swimmer misses a race they may be scratched out of his/her next race.  If they miss an event during finals they are out of the ENTIRE MEET and you can be charged a fine.  For Prelims, boys and girls are run at opposite ends….this means that if girls’ event 11 is in the water, then the next event on the girls’ end is 13. Girls are odd numbers, boys are even numbers.

If your swimmer is age 9 or older and is one of the top 16 fastest in an event swum during prelims, they come back for finals later in the day for team points and awards. Finals are only swum at one end of the pool (usually the girls end). Please make sure that you check results and check with the coaches BEFORE departing for the day AND BEFORE letting your swimmer change out of his/her swim suit.

*** DO NOT LEAVE AT THE END OF PRELIMS! Swimmers who are alternates (17-18th place) and/or on relays, are alternates for relays, and parents who are timing/having timing responsibilities MUST STAY!

Relays

8un and 10un relays are swum at the end of Prelims on Saturday and Sunday. 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18 relays are swum at the conclusion of Finals on Saturday and Sunday. Please make sure that you check with the coaches at the end of Prelims to see if your swimmer is on a relay. We will try to let you know as soon as possible whether your swimmer is on a relay or not.

This week

Please help us and your swimmer by keeping them hydrated, and rested this week and this weekend. Feed them well! And please, no junk food! Some of the groups will be tapering (extra rest) and will be done with practice earlier than usual, please check with the individual coaches to see if this applies to your swimmer. They may have an abundance of energy because of this.  Please contain them as much as possible! We want them to save their energy for the weekend!

All of the girls age 11 and up are allowed to shave their legs the night before championships. Girls age 12 and up are allowed to shave their arms and legs. Only the High School boys are allowed to shave. Please bring a clean razor and shaving gel to the meet in order to re-shave before finals.

***Swimmers ARE NOT allowed to play in the water park until they are COMPLETELY done swimming for the ENTIRE weekend (you have to pay to play in the water park, it is not free).

Also this will be the last meet where technical suits will be allowed under USA Swimming and Pacific Swimming rules.  If you have a full leg skin, it will be your very last meet to where it.
