SVAM-MCAT swimmer Matt Jones breaks Pacific Record
Out of the blue waters of the Hartnell Pool, Dr. Matt Jones of the senior group swam a Pacific Masters Swimming record in the 50 fly going a 23.83.. Folks, this makes him number 1 in the USA for his age group. On 2/6/10, he swam to a first place finish in the 50 free (22.25) and is currently #3 in the nation in that event. He swam 53.65 in the 100 fly (53.65),which is the second fastest timein the Nation. Earlier in the day at the SF.Ca. meet he swam the 100free in 49.34, making him the fastest 100 free swimmer in the County. Not bad for a days work. If you have observed a Senior Group practice in the last month, you know that this guy was going to swim fast. Matt Jones can be quoted as saying "remember those 20 somethings and 30 somethings that beat me at the Fog City meet? Not this time."
Matt is 40 something and proves that commitment and hard work pays. It is not being at practice that matters, it is what you do in that time. I am so proud of this man and what he has accomplished.
Sincerely,
