Zone 1 South MCAT Success
Zone 1 South Championships
Over 40 MCATeers participated in the Pacific Swimming Zone 1 South Championship swim meet on January 15-16,2011 in Santa Clara, California. The weekend netted fantastic swims and time drops for MCAT participants. The standards for scoring and recognition for this meet are based on the National Time Standards, not Pacific Swimming Time Standards. Over 1,800 swimmers participated in this meet with close to 10,000 splashes. This was a well run and organized meet by the volunteer parents of the Zone.
Sophia Almazon (9):2 best times in the 50 free and 100 free, with a 13 second drop in the 100 free.
Molly Baltazar (9): 5 best times in her races with a stunning 10 second drop int he 50 breast.
Sam Bautista (9): Dropped 9.5 seconds in the 50 back, 6 seconds in the 50 free and 9 seconds in the 100 free. WOW
Joceylyn Best (7): 8th place in the C division in the in the 50 free and a new B time. She dropped almost 11 seconds in her 25 breast and 5 seconds in the 25 fly, swimming 4 new best times.
Rachel Best (11): 4 new best times with 3 to 4 second drops in the 50 fly, 50 breast, 100IM, and 100 free.
Colleen Boensel(13): Made it to the meet on the last day to drop time in the 50 free, place 2nd in the BB division in the 50 free and earn a new A time.
Tara Bolosan (11):5 new best times, 1 new B time, 2 new BB times and a 3rd place finish in the B division in the 50 Breast.
Destinee Campagno(13): 100% Best times in all 6 races :) Huge time drops in all of her events.
Tanner Carrillo-Zazueta(16): 5 best times, 4 new A times,2 new JO cuts, went under a minute in the 100 fly (59.24),earned 5 first place finishes in his divisions and a 3rd place in the 100 back in the A division.
Amanda Cavazos(9): 100% best times , placed 6th in the BB division earning a new A time in the 50 fly, placed 4th in the 50 back BB division and 8th in the A division100 IM.
Daniel Cavazos(12); Was all smiles with his 2 best times in the 50 fly and 50 breast.
Nicki Clark (13): 6 stunning drops in all six of his races, netting a 1st ,4th and 5th place finish in his divisions.Dropping 13 seconds in his 100 fly and 15 seconds in his 200IM.
Sydney Clark (14): A beautiful 100 breast stroke swim, getting a 3 second drop.
Kayne Doughty (10):100% best times. Earning 3 new BB times and 2 first place finishes in the B division.
Jaqueline Dy (7): A 13 second drop in the 100 IM, earning 3 best times and a new B time.
Jessica Dy (12): 4 incredible best times earned in extraordinary circumstances. She earned a 6th place finish in the B division 50 Back.
Adam Fonseca (13): 5 new best times and a 7th place finish in the 100 free in the C division. He dropped 10 seconds in the 100fly.
Sam Gomez (18): A 17 second drop in the 100 fly! Earned ribbons placing 2nd in the 100 fly,6th in the 100 breast,5th in the 100 back,5th in the 100 free, and 3rd in the 50 free.
Andrew Hernandez (10): new B and 3rd place finish in the 50 back,New BB and 1st place finish in the 50 free and a new B and 2nd place finish in the 100 free.
Carson Leonard (10): Earned 4 new best times and dropped 9 seconds in his 100 IM and 7 seconds in the 50 fly.
Genevieve Leonard (14): Swam 6 courageous races swimming on her best times after knee surgery. Very pleased with her recovery!
Juliette Leonard (12): Swam 100% best times, 2 new B times, 1 new BB and a new AA time. She placed 2nd in the A division in the 50 breast, 6th in the B division in the 100IM.
Jon Lopez (14): Earned 3 new best times in his races and did a fantastic job in his 100 back.
Jake Luba (17): Placed 3rd in the 50 free and 100 free in the C division and earned 3 new best times.
Jam Macabugao (16): Had 3 great season beginning times.
Toby Macabugao (13): Happy Birthday! Earned a best time in the 100 fly going 59.14 and placed 4th in the 100 Breast and 5th in the 100 back.
Angelica Matos (11): 100% best times. She earned 2 new B times and placed 8th in the 50 free and 50 fly in the C division.
Rebecca Matos(10): had 4 best times earning new BB times in the breast and 100IM. She also placed 7th in the B division in the 100IM.
Amanda Michalski (12): Swam 4 very brave swims finding out that she wasn't well and very sick at the meet. Hope you feel well soon.
Michael Michalski (14): Had 5 impressive time drops.He broke the 1 minute barrier in the 100 free. Congratulations!
Urepenny Morales(17): 100% best times and placed 1st,2nd,4th and 8th in the C division in his events.
Andrey Movilla (11): Swam a best time in the 50 fly dropping a second in that race. She was a fabulous cheerleader for her teammates.
Arriane Movilla (10): Earned 2 new JO cuts, 5 new best times, and 2 new AA times. She also placed 2nd and 3rd in the 100IM in the A division. In the BB division she placed 3rd in the 50 fly and 2nd in the 50 free.
Harlee Noda (12):100 % best times and placed in 5 of her events. She earned 3 new BB times and 3 B times. She also earned a spot on the relay team.
Tommy Padilla (9): 100% best times. Placed 2nd in the BB division in the 50 back and 5th in the B division in the 50 free. He also ads his name to the JO roster with a new JO time.
Mia Ramos (12): Had a fantastic swim in the 50 fly.
Catelyn Rodriguez (12): Earned 3 new best times. She placed 8th in the BB division in the 50 fly.
Mateo Trullijo (8): Earned 3 new best times in the 3 races he swam. He also placed 1st in the B division in the 25 fly and 7th in the 25 breast.
Marcos Vargas(18): 4 new best times and placed 1st in the 100 free, 2nd in the 50 free and 8th in the 100 breast in the c division.
Dennis Wang(14): Brought in a 7th place finish in the BB division in the 100 free going 58.39
Maria Wilson (9): Earned 5 new best times and 3 new B times. She took off an amazing 7 seconds in her 100IM.
Miranda Wilson (11): had 4 new best times with a 4 second drop in the 100 IM. She also earned a new B time in the 50 breast.

We appreciate parents and volunteer family members for fulfilling our required team responsibilities at the meet. We want to thank our officials, timers and marshals for doing a great job this week end. And recognize our coaches for preparing the kids to have a successful winter Zone 1 South Championships.
