2011 Southern Zone Championship Travel Information for Florida Swimming

Monday, July 25^th – Meet at the Southwest Airlines ticketing desk Tampa International Airport no later than 7:45 am for nonstop flight 1780 to Raleigh/Durham.

**Swimmers, please leave room in one of your pieces of luggage for five t-shirts and two pairs of shorts which will serve as your uniform throughout the week. 

**Southwest Airlines does not charge to check the first two bags unless they are heavier than 50 pounds.  Any luggage charges will not be covered by Florida Swimming.

Swimmers will pay for their own food on the trip to and from Raleigh. Once the team has arrived at the North Carolina State dorms, all food will be provided.

Swimmers should bring additional money for the extras like t-shirts and meet souveniers.

Competition begins on Tuesday, July 26^th at the Triangle Aquatic Center. The address is 275 Convention Dr., Cary, NC 27511.  The facility is located just off of I-40 at exit 291 adjacent to the Cary Towne Center.

The swimmers, coaches and chaperones will be staying at the North Carolina State University dorms.  Pillow, sheets, blanket, towel and washcloth will be provided.  There are hall bathrooms on each floor. 

Team warm up on Monday at the pool will be between 4 – 8 pm.

Competition begins on Tuesday, July 26^th with the female 800’s and male 1500’s.

            Warm up at noon and the meet starts at 2 pm. 

On Wednesday through Saturday, preliminaries begin at 9 am and finals begin at 6 pm. 

            Warm up is scheduled by meet management.

The Open Water swim will be held on Sunday, July 31st at Pinehurst Resort Venue in Pinehurst, NC.  Check in and registration at 7:00 am. Competition starts at 8:00 am.  The 11-12 age group swims 3K.  The 13-14’s and the 15-18’s will swim 5K.

Sunday, July 31^st - After the open water swim, we will return to Florida.  We will fly out of Raleigh/Durham airport at 2:55 pm on Southwest flight 2807 nonstop to Orlando International Airport arriving at 4:35 pm.
