Sectionals Update (Day 3)
Day 3 saw more lifetime bests, medals, a new Senior National cut and a Sectionals record, with only 3 events offered!
First, the finalists: Andy Lau and Eugene Tee made the championship final in the 400 IM. Andy went on to place 6th and achieve an in-season best time in the prelims. Eugene also achieved an in-season best time with a 4:28.15, finishing 1st and breaking the Sectionals record. Jordan Wilimovsky dropped over 3 seconds in his 400 IM, winning the consolation final and making a Senior National qualifying standard. In the "D" final of the 400 IM, Matthew Wu and Scott Simmer swam lifetime bests in the morning and nearly as fast in the evening.
Sam Ruddy swam a solid 156.57 in the 200 Free, finishing 12th.
The relays were a tough match up with the TSM Men's "A" relay managing a 6th place finish in the 800 Free Relay. The "B" relay showed some serious chops, with two boys, Danny Fujinaka and Scott Simmer, each splitting 1:58 to help that team capture 20th place.
The Women's team saw Payton Perrotta lead off after a lifetime best of 2:09 in the prelims of the 200 Free, with relay bests from her teammates, Angella Chen, Hannah Kogan, and Liliana Casso. The TSM women finished 21st in the event.
In the team points race, TSM continue to lead the medium sized teams and have improved our position to 8th place, overall, with 298 points. TSM is 83 points ahead of any other team in the Pacific Committee of SCS, with Rose Bowl (a "large team") the closest, at 215 points.
Saturday sees TSM facing off in the 200 IM, 50 Free, 400 Free and the 4x100 Free Relay.
