Sectionals Wrap (Day 5 & Open Water 5K)
TSM wrapped up an excellent Sectionals meet with strong swims in the 1500 Free, 100 Back, 100 Fly and 400 Medley Relays, not to mention their dominating performance in the Open Water 5K event on the last day of competition, this morning!
Before we get to the individual highlights, though, we must acknowledge the incredible team effort put forth by the 17 young men and women representing TSM in Clovis. They were pleasantly surprised by their 14th place finish in the combined team race. TSM also took 3rd place in the medium sized team division, completing the team's best Sectionals finish, ever. Congratulations to the Sectionals team and the rest of the TSM family!
The 1500 Free was the most successful event of the day, with several notable swims. On the Men's side, Jordan Wilimovsky won a close race to claim his first Sectionals championship, with a time of 15:55.66, taking more than 8 seconds off of his previous best time. Andy Lau finished 9th in the 1500, with a more than 12 second improvement. Also notable, Danny Fujinaka posted a 15 second drop to match his 15th place finish and Max Halson finished 18th. On the Women's side, Liliana Casso raced to a 6th place finish with a time of 17:27.88, shaving nearly 16 seconds off of her previous best time.
In the Men's 100 Back, Mun Hon Lee took 17th place.
In today's Open Water 5K event, Liliana Casso was victorious in the Women's event and Max Halson conquered the Men's field. Jordan Wilimovsky took 2nd in the Men's event and Eugene Tee came in 3rd. TSM won the Open Water team competition, upsetting perennial powers from Mission Viejo and Canyons. Way to go, swimmers!
