Jordan Wins First Team USA Medal at World Junior Open Water
TSM’s Jordan Wilimovsky won a silver medal in the 7.5km race at the World Junior Open Water Championships behind Germany’s Rob MUFFELS . The bronze went to Jan MICKA of the Czech Republic. This was an extremely strong junior field with the 7.5km medalists capable of pool performances that rank amongst some of the best on the planet with 1500m free times of 15:18, 15:23, and 15:23 respectively.
Muffels of Germany swam a great race establishing an early lead to slip out of sight of most competitors until nearly 6km had passed. Though Jordan jumped from as far back as 7th to break away from the main pack, his 15 second gain on the German leader was not enough to close the gap in the last lap.
Jordan’s performance assures him a spot in the USA Team event on Sunday. Well done Jordan!
