The Canadian duet of Synchronized Swimming, made up by Marie-Pier Boudreau and Elise Marcotte achieved the first gold medal of the competition, after placing first with 94.988 points, for a Final score of 188.988. Competition held at the Scotiabank Aquatic Center.

Canada achieved the gold medal with 47.350 in technique, 47.638 in artistic and 94.000 in technical routine.

The silver medal went to the U.S. team, made up by Mary Killman and Mariya Koroleva, who performed with good, finishing with 179.463 points.

Brazil’s duo, made up by Nayara Figueira and Lara Teixeira won the bronze medal with a total of 177.413, out of which 88.913 points were from the freestyle category.

Mexico’s team, formed by Nuria Diosdado and Blanca Delgado, who achieved a neat, synchronized and emotional routine, placed fourth with 173.663 points total (86.538 points given for technique and artistic).

Colombia finished fifth, with 80.350 in Freestyle and 161.350 points in Total. They expressed a bittersweet feeling at the end.

The next positions went to: Argentina with 158.613, Venezuela with 151.325, Aruba with 146.375, Costa Rica with 140.513 and Uruguay with 137.775 points.

The Freestyle Routines lasted 3 minutes and 30 seconds with a 15 second tolerance. The judges considered execution, synchronization and difficulty in the technical category, while in the artistic, the judges evaluated choreography, music interpretation and delivery.
