Day 5 summary from the XVIIth U.A.N.A. Pan American Junior Men's Championships
Game #32 PUR 7 MEX 4
In a decisive game for positions 2-4 in B section, Mexico came out playing strong defense and opportunistic offense to take a 4-3 lead at halftime. Puerto Rico had their chances but couldn’t capitalize in their extra man opportunities.
The third quarter was an up and down battle between both teams with no goals scored for the quarter. Puerto Rico came out strong and with one minute gone in the quarter they tied the game. Puerto Rico’s zone defense and strong swimming counter attacks proved to be an effective weapon, scoring three goals in a three minute span. Luis Mojica (#4) for Puerto Rico was highest scorer for the game with 4 goals. Armando Gibert (#10) With this result, Puerto Rico finishes third in their section and will play Canada. Mexico got fourth place and will play Brazil in quarter final games.

Game #33 COL 10 PER 5
In a game they had to win to get second place in B section, Colombia won the battle between south American teams. Colombia finished the first quarter ahead by 3-1, but the team from Peru battled back and tied the game at the half.
Colombia’s defense and counter attack strength was too much for the undersized and more younger Peruvian team, which could only score once in the second half while Colombia scored sis goals. Juanb Perez (#3) and Steven Montoya (#6) from Venezuela scored two goals apiece. Bruce Espinoza (#11) from Peru was their highest scorer with three goals. Peru will not play tomorrow, with their next game been against Argentina for 9-10 place. Colombia will play Venezuela in another tough game for the two South American countries.

Game #34 BRA 22 ARG 3
Brazil came out strong and never stopped playing hard, beating the Less experienced and undermanned Argentinian team from the onset of the game. Brazil led 4-0, 10-0 14-2 for the first three quarters. Most of the goals came from counter attacks and extra man situation.
Brazil tenacious defense never game Argentina a chance to get untracked. Pablo Borges (#7) for Brazil was the best scorer for the game with 5 goals. Jaime Tepper (#13) for Argentina scored two of their three goals. Argentina is off tomorrow and will play Peru for positions 9-10. Brazil plays Mexico in a quarter finals game.

Game #35 TRI 4 CAN 16
In a game with no implications for positions, Canada beat Trinidad and Tobago by the score of 16-4.. Canada started slowly, missing their first eight shots of the game. Trinidad and Tobago couldn’t generate too much offense from the centre post and wasn’t sharp at all from the outside. During the second quarter, Canada started finishing the counter attacks and extra man situations, getting a 5-2 lead going to halftime.
In the third quarter, Canada came out strong and scored the first four goals of the quarter, increasing a lead and never looked back. Canada’s defense was relentless and left no opportunity for Trinidad to develop any constant offensive attack. Canada scored 11 goals in the second half, while Trinidad could only score two goals
Shaquille Mitchell (#3) led Trinidad and Tobago scoring with two goals. Devon Thumwood (#11) and Paul Spooner (#12) led the Canadian attack with three goals apiece. Trinidad will play against USA and Canada will play Puerto Rico in tomorrow’s quarter final session.
