Day 6 summary from the XVIIth U.A.N.A. Pan American Junior Men's Championships
Game #36 BRA 15 MEX 6
Mexico surprised the Brazilian team by tying them in the first quarter 3 goals apiece. Mexico scored from the outside and Brazil scored in counter attacks and outside shooting. During the second quarter, Brazil kept the pressure on Mexico in defense and the counter attacks, especially with Vasconcelos with precise outside and counter attack shots.
During the third quarter, Brazil held Mexico at bay with only one goal while scoring three of their own. During the last quarter, Brazil used counter attacks constantly and effectively to score six goals to none for Mexico. Henrique Vasconcelos was the best scorer for the game with five goals. Edgar Ortiz and Erik Juarez were the top scorers for Mexico with two goals.

Game #38 VEN 9 COL 11
In a hotly contested game from the beginning, Colombia out hustled and out swan the Venezuelan team. Colombia jumped ahead 3-2 with excellent outside shooting. They increased their lead by two, this time with hard defense and good extra man conversions.
During the third quarter, mounted a comeback tying the game at seven, Colombia responded with two goals from the outside by #10 Talaga. In the fourth quarter, Venezuela played tough defense and had three extra man situations and two counter attacks that they missed. Colombia played smart for the whole quarter, saving their energy to play defense and kept their cool until the game ended. Hugo Velazquez (#4) for Venezuela was their top scorer with three goals. Joyman Talaga was the best scorer for Colombia and for the game with four goals. With this victory Colombia goes to semi-finals against Brazil. Venezuela will play for positions 5-8 against Mexico.

In a very lackluster game, United States took care of Trinidad and Tobago 17-0. The score was wide open from the onset, with USA scoring 6 goals in the first quarter.
Trinidad didn’t mount any constant offense during the whole game. USA played tough defense and had counter attacks on most of their plays. Jacob Himmel led the USA balanced attack with four goals. With the win, USA plays against Canada in semi-finals while Trinidad plays Puerto Rico for 5-8 positions.

In what became the most exciting game of the night, Canada had to work hard to earn their victory against a well determined Puerto Rico team. From the beginning the Puerto Rico team let Canada know that they were in for a battle, and so it was.
After the first quarter Canada led 3-2. Puerto Rico kept in the game using the extra man situations to their advantage, while Canada relied on Puerto Rico’s mistake and their strong inside and outside game. During the third quarter, Canada scored two goals from the left wing, giving them a three goal lead. In that quarter, Puerto Rico kept playing strong defense and very precise offense and were able to score two goals, one from centre position and one from extra man to close the gap to one goal. Puerto Rico had two opportunities in the last quarter to tie the game, but Canada closed out their defense and made Puerto Rico take forced shots. Martin Polland (#6) and Nikol Mitrovic (#9) scored three goals apiece for Canada. Fernando Zayas (#7) and Gerardo Sanchez (#9) scored two goals each for Puerto Rico. Canada plays USA in the semi finals, while Puerto Rico plays Trinidad and Tobago for 5-8 positions.
