Day 7 summary from the XIth U.A.N.A. Pan American Junior Women's Championships
Game #40 VEN 8 PUR 10
In a game full of emotions and hard fought, Puerto Rico came on top and beat Venezuela by the score 10-8. The game started slowly for both teams, finishing the first quarter with Puerto Rico ahead 1-0. During the second quarter, Puerto Rico was able to score three goals from the centre post and take a commanding lead at the half 5-2.
In the third quarter, Venezuela mounted a comeback with strong outside shooting to narrow the gap 7-5. Venezuela came strong in the last quarter tying the game with less than five minutes to play in the game. Puerto Rico went back to their strength and scored goals from centre post and outside to open the game and winning at the end by a two goal margin. Venezuela’s top player Soleylin Martinez was their top scorer with three goals. For Puerto Rico, Francisraquel del Valle scored three goals to lead her team. With the win, Puerto Rico finishes 5th and Venezuela in 6th position.

Game #42 USA 12 BRA 5
In a surprisingly easy game, United States came out strong from the beginning of the game and beat Brazil by a wide margin. United States played strong defense for the whole game, and was able to capitalize at will. USA went ahead 4-1 in the first quarter and 6-3 at the half. Yoshlye Anderson (#9) from USA scored the first four goals for the USA team.
The third quarter was the most contested one, with USA winning it by the slightest margin 2-1. For the fourth and final period, Brazil scored the first goal and the USA came back and scored four goals in a row to open the game up and win with ease. Yoshlye Anderson (#9) from USA finished the game with five goals to be the game’s top scorer. Izabella Chappini (#4) from Brazil scored 3 goals. With this result, USA will play the winner of the Canada-Mexico game for gold medal and Brazil will play the loser for the bronze medal.

Game #41 CAN 23 MEX 2
Canada played a strong counter attacking game from the first quarter until the last one and defeated Mexico by the score of 23-2. Mexico was no match for Canada’s strength both on offense and defense.
Canada’s offensive attack was well balanced. They had five players scoring three goals each. For Mexico, only Rocio Rivera (#5) and Cynthia Placencia (#7) were able to score goals. Canada will play for the gold medal against United States. Mexico will play Brazil for the bronze medal.
