RE: 2013 FINA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR MEN AND WOMEN
QUALIFICATION EVENT FOR THE AMERICAS
The U.A.N.A. Water Polo Technical Committee has recommended to U.A.N.A. the organization of the Qualification Event for both Men and Women to be held at a time during the period from January 1 to February 28, 2013 (preferably the first 2 weeks of January), as may be proposed by the host.
This tournament will be used to select the teams that will represent the Americas in the 2013 FINA World Championships to be held in Barcelona, Spain. Two (2) teams for each of men and women will qualify in addition to the women’s team from USA which qualified through their placing in the 2012 FINA World League and Olympic Games. That means that there will be three (3) teams (women) and two (2) teams (men) from the Americas in the 2013 FINA World Championships. If there is any vacancy, it will be filled by a team from the Americas
The U.A.N.A. Qualification Event will be held using the round robin format for the classification round, with semifinals and finals, as may be applicable. The event will take a maximum of ten (10) days but will be shorter if the number of teams entering is less than eight for either Men or Women. Other than the teams already qualified, the teams that will represent the Americas in the 2013 FINA World Championships will be selected from the final standing.
The U.A.N.A. Executive Committee is requesting proposals from its Federations to be the host country for the Qualification Event for the Americas for the 2013 FINA World Championships for Men and Women under the following bases:
Provide a fixed daily cost for housing and food for a maximum of eight (8) teams (men) and eight (8) teams (women) including the host country. Each delegation will have a maximum of 18 persons; 13 players and 5 officials including one (1) referee.
Provide local transportation for all delegations and referees.
Provide air transportation, housing, food and local transportation to the U.A.N.A. delegate to be appointed by the U.A.N.A. Executive Committee.
