European Swimming Federation (LEN) Constitutional Rules accepted in Debrecen

An Extraordinary Congress, held on the occasion of the 31st European Swimming Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, approved changes to the LEN Constitutional Rules on Saturday by a large majority (62-10). 36 of the 51 LEN Member Federations were represented by their respective delegates. Great Britain proposed to accept the new Constitutional Rules in their entirety.

The next Elective Congress will now be held in Cascais, near Lisbon, Portugal, on 29 September 2012. The LEN Member Federations have to submit their candidates for the Bureau and Technical Committees in writing 90 days before the Congress.

Originally, the LEN Bureau and Technical Committees would have been elected in 2013. But as the International Swimming Federation (FINA) has its Elective Congress in the year after the Olympics (e.g. 2013) and LEN has to propose the European delegates to FINA beforehand, LEN was forced to change its year of elections.
