17th FINA World Sports Medicine Congress in Istanbul (TUR)
The 17th FINA World Sports Medicine Congress will be held in Istanbul at the Renaissance Polat Hotel from December 10-11, 2012 prior the 11th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) under the main theme “Enhancing Performance; The healthy Aquatic Athlete”.
As Prof. Sanli Sadi Kurdak, Chair of the Local Organising Committee, sums it up: "The Congress will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest scientific, and technological advances in swimming, diving, water polo, synchro and open water with workshops, seminars, panels and lectures. The most prestigious professionals from all around the world will contribute and be a part of this important scientific event."
The Congress will address various issues relating to the aquatic athletes, including:

This FINA event has been organised every two or four years since the first meeting in London (1969). The last Congress took place in Manchester (GBR) in 2008.
