More Diamond Jubilee medals for swimmers, coaches, builders

OTTAWA – Canadian swimmers, coaches and longtime members of the swimming community continue to be recognized with Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals.

Vancouver and Ottawa are hosting ceremonies Friday, in which London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic athletes will be honoured alongside coaches and individuals who have helped grow the Paralympic movement in Canada.

In Vancouver, Olympic bronze medallist Brent Hayden, who also learned this week he will be named to the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame, is among the recipients. Silver medallist Nathan Stein and fellow 2012 Paralympian Scott Patterson will join Hayden. Also being recognized by the Canadian Paralympic Committee are Michael Edgson (athlete/builder/coach), Elisabeth Walker-Young (builder/athlete), Reg Shaw (coach) and Janet Dunn (coach/builder).

Meanwhile, in Ottawa 2012 Paralympian Brianna Jennett-McNeill is among the honourees, as are Michelle Killins (builder), Craig McCord (coach) and Carla Qualtrough (Builder).
