Argentina, Peru, Venezuela and Chile Bid to host 2019 Pan American Games
MEXICO CITY, MEXICO--Reports indicate that there are 4 bidders for the 2019 Pan American Games: La Punta, Argentina; Lima, Peru; Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela; and Santiago, Chile. The deadline to submit bids to the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) was yesterday (January 31); the host is to be elected by at a PASO meeting this November. San Juan, Puerto Rico reportedly considered bidding for the 2019 Games; however, the city has shifted its bid to 2023, better fitting the informal rotation throughout the Americas of hosting the Games. The last Games were held in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2011, the next will be held in Toronto, Canada in 2015.
