In a battle for South American Supremacy, Brazil and Argentina went at each other from beginning to end. The first quarter determined the tempo for most of the game, with both teams consistently going to the post to generate offense. The first quarter saw most of the goals scored by both teams were power goals. The quarter ended on a 3-3 tie. During the second quarter, both teams slowed down their game tempo, but kept looking for ejections and extra man situations on every opportunity they had. The little opportunities each team had in offense weren’t effective. The quarter ended with Brazil ahead 5-4
The third quarter saw a more determined Brazilian team, scoring more aggressively from all areas of the field of play. Their constant attack left men open in the 5-6 meter area, and they were able to capitalize in most of their opportunities. Argentina lost their composure in this quarter and committed four consecutive turnovers. Brazil started the fourth quarter with a commanding 4 goal lead, 10-6. They kept the same aggressive style of play but didn’t force the shot, protecting their lead and not making any mental mistakes for Argentina to capitalize. Brazil’s goalkeeper was once again a monster in the cage, stopping every perimeter shot and even a penalty shot. Brazil had three players scoring two goals apiece. Argentina had 6 players scoring 1 goal each
With the win, Brazil earns the bronze medal in the tournament.
