Rio 2016 selected five companies for the third phase of the Mascots creation process
The winning companies will work together with Rio 2016™ team for adjustments and detailing of proposals
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: 26 March, 2013: Last Friday 22 March, the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games selected the five winning companies of the third phase of the Games Mascots creation process. In the next stage, the companies should adjust and detail the proposals with Rio 2016™ team.
The following companies were selected for the next stage, in alphabetic order:

Labareda Design Ltda.
Loucomov Animação e Computação Gráfica Ltda. ME
Marcella Tamayo dos Santos ME
After the necessary adjustments, the proposals will be evaluated according to technical criteria and selected for the last phase by the adjudication committee. The winning bidder will be selected by unanimity rule. The final award is R$ 50 thousand for the creation of the two mascots, which will be announced to the public about two years before the Games, in the second half of 2014.
In this selection process only Brazilian professionals and companies took part because the Committee hopes to give impetus to the national market through a vote of confidence in the ability to create and develop characters.
