14^TH ANNUAL RHAC INTERNATIONAL SWIM MEET

SLATED FOR NEXT WEEKEND

Castries, St. Lucia. The 14^th Annual Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre (RHAC) International Swim Meet is Slated for April 11^th  to 15^th at the Aquatic Centre.  The meet director, Dr. Diane Worrell,  has indicated that 330 swimmers have entered the meet hailing from 15 clubs with over 2100 entries.  One additional team is expected to attend.

At this printing 101 regional swimmers have registered to participate hailing from Barbados, Trinidad, Antigua, St. Vincent and Grenada to take on the home based clubs.  This meet will be a lead up to the 2013 OECS Championship, which will bring many of these swimmers back to St. Lucia in November as part of their countries National Teams.

The RHAC International has over the years allowed young, developing swimmers to compete against other regional swimmers, many for the first time at a travel meet.  This year the meet format is changing to Heats and Finals.  All 10 and under swimmers will swim timed finals in the morning beginning at 9 am while the 11 and older swimmers will be swimming preliminaries.  The finals for the 11 – 12, 13 – 14, 15 – Over will be held in evening sessions beginning at 6 pm.

Sponsors for the meet so far are: The Marina at Marigot Bay, Ferrands Food Products, J.E. Bergasse and Company, Diamonds International, Windward and Leeward Brewery (Piton Malta), Plural Agencies Ltd. , Pinnock Bros Inc.  and Bay Gardens Hotel.

Awards will be presented for the top 8 place finishers in the 6 and Under, 7 – 8 , 9 – 10, 11 – 12, 13 – 14, 15 – 17, and 18 – Over age groups in 74 events over the 4 day competition.

Closing Awards Ceremony 30 min following finish of meet

Each session admission is $5.00 for Adults and $3.00 for Children.   Food will be on sale throughout the meet.
