Clare McGovern named best junior athlete of the 2013 Canadian Open Championships
Top 16 athletes selected for the 2013 Junior National Team Camp
QUEBEC CITY - Clare McGovern of the Granite Synchro Club in Toronto was named the best junior athlete to close the 2013 Canadian Open Championships in synchronized swimming.
During the competition held in Quebec City from April 24-28, McGovern won the gold medal in the National Junior Solo event and in the duet event with her teammate Wenjing Deng. She also won the bronze medal in the team event.
Junior National Team Camp
Sunday, Synchro Canada held trials for its 2013 Junior National Team which will represent the country at the UANA Age Group Championships at the end of August in Puerto Rico. The team of 12 athletes will be lead by Head Coach Lilianne Grenier and her assistants Nathalie Lagrange and Geneviève Beauregard-Ross.
The top-25 in the junior figures event held Thursday advanced to Phase 2, a second figures event on Sunday.

“I was impressed with the girls’ performance especially after a long week of competition,” said Grenier. “At the camp in Calgary we want to select athletes who demonstrate both artistic and technical talents along with endurance and strength.”
Best overall artistic performance MAKE UP FOR EVER Awards
The Calgary Aquabelles won the best overall artistic performance MAKE UP FOR EVER Award for the 2013 Canadian Open Championships for their combo routine "Disco".
This award were given to the top junior or senior team based only on the artistic marks during the team or combo final. All winning athletes and coaches received products from MAKE UP FOR EVER.
