Club Teams To Represent U.S. At Mediterranean Cup
INDIANAPOLIS -- Elite synchronized swimmers from four club teams will represent the United States at the Mediterranean Synchronized Swimming Cup in Andorra, July 4-7.
The Mediterranean Cup is the highest level of competition in the world for synchro swimmers age 13 to 15, with more than 20 countries competing.
Members of the 13-15 Walnut Creek Aquanuts (Katya Mizin, Regina Kong, Renee Stehlik, Daria Torba, Dana Drury, Lauren Simonelli and Peyton LeGate) and Catalina Nedelcu of the Riverside Aquettes will swim the team event. The Santa Clara Aquamaids' Leilah Talukder and Celine Joo (with alternate Jacklyn Luu) will compete in duet, and the Arizona Desert Dolphins' Olivia Ekberg will be the U.S. representative in the solo competition.
Drury, Ekberg, Joo, Luu, Nedelcu, Talukder and Torba were recently selected for the U.S. 13-15 National Team.
"This is an amazing experience for the athletes to be exposed to world-class competition at such a young age," Walnut Creek coach Kim Probst said. "Competing with the best of the best is something that will drive the girls to work hard for years to come."
