Barcelona 2013 App is now available with all event information

Barcelona, 10^th July 2013

The 15^th FINA World Championships Barcelona 2013 launches worldwide the official mobile application for the Championships, BCN 2013. With this, the mobile becomes a direct channel which follows the events at the highest level competition for swimming in the world. The App also offers information of points of interest (hospitality, hotels, public transport, competition venues, etc) closest to the user. This is a very valuable service taking into account the international scale of the event and the abundance of visitors to the city.

The application is available for smartphones and tablets, and can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play by any user regardless of their nationality or the operator that they use. All fans, whether present at the competition or not, have access to the most updated information from Barcelona 2013 through one single application. By using the latest technologies offered by smartphones the information is seen in a simple and interactive way.  

The first version of the application is now available to download with the latest data from the organization and information on the most popular points of interest in the city, provided by the City of Barcelona.

The second version, available a few days before the start of the Championships, will allow the user to consult the competition calendar, see the results of each event, access the information of athletes in each national team and even check the biomechanical analysis of each of the participating swimmers. Additionally, and thanks to the “Here and Now” function, the application will offer, in real time, the contextual information most relevant to the user, taking into account their geographical position and the competitions that are taking place in each moment. For example, if the user is at one of the venues at the Championships, they will automatically be shown the information associated to the competition taking place at that very venue, therefore improving their Swimming World Championship experience. If a fan is following an event on the television, the information on all the events happening at that point will be available so they will have easy access to it.
