Synchronised  Swimming  sets  new  record as 8,122 spectators fill the stands at Palau Sant Jordi

Barcelona, 26 July 2013

The big number of spectators supporting Spain's national Synchronised Swimming team at the Palau Sant Jordi today represents a new record for women’s sporting competitions held in Spain in a long time. A total of 8,122 fans did not want to miss out on the spectacular events today, Friday, setting anew audience record (not taking the Barcelona 2013 Opening Ceremony into consideration), which will most probably be exceeded tomorrow at the last day of the Synchro events at the 15th FINA World Championships Barcelona 2013.

Although Barcelona 2013 event organisers classified today’s competition as “high demand”, the big number of fans exceeded all expectations. For the first time in a very long time have over 8,100 fans attended a women’s sporting event in Spain. The BCN2013 Organising Committee is very satisfied with the ticket sales and hopes to set up the “Sold Out” sign for the Swimming events, which will kick off this upcoming Sunday.
