Diving Canada Press Release --
TUCSON, Arizona - Caeli McKay of Calgary won the gold medal on Friday on girls one-metre in the 14-15 age group at the Junior Pan Am Championships in diving.

‘’It was amazing,’’ said McKay. ‘’I just wanted to dive well today. It didn’t matter how I placed. The big improvement today was on my compulsories. They were consistent for the first time in a long time.’’
Philippe Gagné of Montreal, edged for a bronze Thursday on three-metre, took the silver on one-metre. Vincent Riendeau of Pointe-Claire, Que., was fifth.
‘’I’m pretty surprised with my performance,’’ said Gagné ‘’The one-metre is the board I practice the least but I did a good job on a new dive and that earned me a lot of points.

‘’I was certainly quite motivated to come back strong,’’ said Leathead. ‘’I just felt more on my game and confident I was going to dive well. Earning a strong score on my opening dive also helped a lot.’’
