St. Lucia's Jordan Augier nabs two NCAA "B" cuts

 

TWO NCAA “B” CUTS FOR JORDAN AUGIER

 

 

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After day one of the fourth annual Sharks Invitational, the No. 8 University of Tampa men’s swimming team has opened a lead over several Sunshine State Conference opponents. The No. 11 Spartan women are also among the top teams and currently second.

 

The four-day event is being hosted by Nova Southeastern University, and features eight men’s teams and 10 on the women’s side.

 

UT’s men have accumulated 359.5 points, leading Florida Southern (306.5), Nova Southeastern (209), Florida Tech (129) and Saint Leo (104). Florida International (291.5) leads Tampa (275.5) in women’s action, with Florida Southern (235.5), Nova Southeastern (165.5) and Rollins (63) rounding out the top five.

 

Tampa’s men were lead by the 200 Medley Relay, which set a new school record with an NCAA qualifying time. The team of Karl BurdisPhilip NordenbergRunar Borgen and Jeremy Parker set the record after being clocked at 1:29.23. Tampa also finished second in the event with another NCAA “B” time at 1:31.73 coming from Jordan AugierDanny DuhigKhalid Aldaboos and Martin Hammer.

 

Three-time All-American Heather Glenday led off the finals with an NCAA “A” time and second-place finish in the 1,000 Free. Her time was 10:01.75.

In the men’s 1,000 Free, Jonathan Hofrichter was third, achieving an NCAA “B” time. UT also had a pair of NCAA “B” times in the 200 IM, coming from Zane Hranac and Scott Nocco with fourth and fifth place finishes respectively.

Erin Plachy was third in the 50 Free with a time of 23.89, which was also a B time.

 

The men’s 50 Free featured a host of Spartans who registered NCAA cuts, led by Runar Borgen’s second-place finish with a time of 20.62. Also reaching B times were Khalid AldaboosJeremy ParkerJordan Augier and Martin Hammer.

 

The women’s 200 Medley Relay also posted a B time, with a second-place finish. The team of Danielle BachAlex HipolitoEmily Grams and Erin Plachy logged a time of 1:46.06.
