St. Lucian swimmers earned two medals and ten national age group records

 

SWIMMING MEDALS AND RECORDS IN TRINIDAD AND JAMAICA

 

St Lucian swimmers managed two medals and ten national Age Group records at Trinidad and Jamaica meets the past weekend

 

At the ASATT Invitational meet held in Trinidad, St Lucia had 3 clubs represented – Southern Flying Fish, Sharks and Racers - all under watchful eye of Coach Jamie Peterkin.

 

Jyasi Daniel captured the only individual medal being a Bronze in 50m Butterfly age group 13-14.

 

The Sharks Swim club won Silver in 200m Medley Relay age group 11-12 comprising Eden Crick, Zanaii Taylor, Katelin Samuel and Crystal Moncherry in time of 2:32.30?

 

Also congratulations to Stefon Emmanuel of Southern Flying Fish who established a new Age Group Record in 15-17 Boys 200m Breast. It was a very challenging meet which featured 380 swimmers from 31 clubs, including clubs from UK and Sweden:

 

St Lucias Ethan Dyke Elliott of Sea Jays Swim club swam in Kingston Jamaica at the Christmas Open Swimming Championships over the weekend 13th to 15th December and demolished a phenomenal 9 age group records.

 

Ethan was the top 10 yr old swimmer and was always up against the 12 year olds in the age group. Ethan had 9 swims; he had 9 personnel best swims, and he set 9 St Lucia national Age Group Records Long Course.

 

7th   in the 200 IM                                   2:51.46;

5th   in the 100 BK                                  1:21.87;

6th   in the 50 FLY                                  33.56;

9th   in the 100 FREE                             1:08.06;

6th   in the 100 FLY                               1:18.98;

6th   in the 200  FREE                             2:29.58;

15th   in the 400 FREE                            5:17.60 ;

6th    in the 50 BK                                   37.49;

7th   in the 50 FREE                               30 97,

 

This last time giving Ethan his third CARIFTA 2014 qualifying time

 

The 400 Free was an open event Ethan was the only 10 year old competing against 26 swimmers.

 

His Sea Jays coach Norm Banfield was elated as this was a difficult meet for a 10 year old to be without any compatriots from St Lucia, and Ethan stood up and performed at an outstanding level.
