PARANA, ARGENTINA--Russia's Ivan Afanevich and Argentina's Pilar Geijo
were the top male and female finishers in yesterday's second stop of the
2014 FINA Open Water Grand Prix series: the 88-kilometer Hernandarias to
Parana swim. Afanevich finished in 9:20:38, just over two minutes ahead
of second place finisher Saleh Mohammed, Syria (9:22:42); Geijo finished
in 9:27:28, twenty minutes ahead of the next female, Silvie Rybarova,
Czech Republic (9:48:07). In total, 16 males and 9 females started the
race.
