The FINA World Water Polo Conference kicks off tomorrow, February 27, in Cancun (MEX). During two days, under the motto "Sharing the Magic of Team Sports", water polo will be at the centerstage of discussion panels between FINA and internationally-recognised team sports figures. This unique opportunity will allow the water polo community to share experience with renowned speakers from the big leagues, such as NFL, NBA, NHL and ICC, and discuss new trends in popular sports, such as Rugby 7 and beach volleyball, in order to maintain water polo at the top of its game and find innovative ways to expand it. A discussion panel with global sponsors Arena, Dentsu, BrandActivator and Navigate Research will be organised on Day 1. World-class water polo players, past and present, will also have their say, with Brenda Villa (USA), Johanne Begin (CAN), Slobodan Nikic (SRB) and Alessandro Campagna (ITA) taking part in another discussion panel. On Day 2, experts from the media and digital world, including Google/YouTube, NBC Olympics, TV Asahi and AIPS, will discuss the popularity of water polo and team sports. The Conference will conclude with a panel hosted by water polo leaders from Spain, the Netherlands, Hungary and USA on how to make the sport more attractive, and a testimony by special guest Jesus Mena, Minister of Sport in Mexico. A live Twitter Q&A will be available during the Conference. All videos from the discussion panels will be available on FINAtv as well. |
