St. Lucia Names 2014 CARIFTA Swim Team

SLASA NAMES 2014 CARIFTA SWIMTEAM

 The St Lucia Amateur Swimming Association has named a ten member squad to participate at the 2014 CARIFTA Swimming Championships to be held Olympic pool “Roly Bisslik” in Savaneta, Aruba from 22 to 26^th April 2014

The 9 pool swimmers and 1 open water swimmer are

11-12 Girls: Katelin Samuel, Eden Crick

11-12 Boys: Ethan Dyke Elliot, Jayhan Odlum Smith, Terrell Monplaisir

13-14 Boys: Jyasi Daniel, Christopher Phillips

15-17 Girls: Thalia Bergasse, Bailey Spiegelberg (Open Water Swimming – 5K)

15-17 Boys: Anthony Francois

The coach will be Jamie Peterkin

SLASA had deferred sending swimmers to the inaugurated 5 km Open Water event in 2013, and this year will be sending Bailey Spiegelburg who competed at CCCAN last year

Other newcomers include the 11 -12 girls Eden Crick all 11-12 boys, Ethan Dyke Elliot, Jayhan Odlum Smith, and Terrell Monplaisir,  

Jyasi Daniel makes a fourth appearance and is expected to make the strongest showing especially in the short sprints.

The competition is again expected to be challenging but the swimmers are in high spirits as they prepare for the meet
