US Junior National Team Continues On At FINA World Junior Championships  


 

HELSINKI - The U.S. Junior National Team and duet both finished preliminary competition in tenth at the FINA World Junior Championships, after swimming their free routine.

The competition will continue on August 1st, as the athletes comp ete in figures, which will be combined with their final routine score.  Both the duet and team hope to move up the rankings with their final routines on August 2nd.


 

Duet, Anita Alvarez (Kenmore, N.Y./Town of Tonawanda Aquettes) and Sandra Ortellado (Walnut Creek, Calif./Walnut Creek Aquanuts), currently have 82.6667 points. The team currently has a score of 82.3000.

 

Both the team and duet competed recently in the U.S. Open, where they took home top honors in both routines.
