The greatest swimmer of all-time, Michael Phelps, and Hall of Fame coach Bob Bowman, have announced today the formation of a long-term strategic partnership with Aqua Sphere, the premier swimming equipment manufacturer for fitness and recreational swimming, aquatic exercise, and triathlons. Phelps, Bowman and Aqua Sphere will combine their expertise and passion to cultivate the lifestyle of swimming to develop a new class of swim products for all stages of development and expand water-safety initiatives worldwide and continue to help grow the sport.

 

Ohno Fronts New Chocolate Milk Ad Campaign…

Short-track speed skating legend Apolo Ohno has been building his athletic success with lowfat chocolate milk for years and now the eight-time medalist is featured with the recovery drink in a new national BUILT WITH CHOCOLATE MILK™ ad campaign that captures his journey towards the IRONMAN® World Championship triathlon. Ohno is featured in two new ads for the campaign, a print and a 30-second TV spot that feature him pushing his limits, reaching for a new kind of finish line. His TV spot will air on a variety of networks including NBC and NBC Sports the week of August 4 and his print ad will debut in Men’s Health on August 26.

 

Top Swimmers to Compete in National Championships…

Octagon swimmers Michael Phelps, Allison Schmitt, Natalie Coughlin, Nathan Adrian, Katie Hoff and Michael McBroom will all compete in the Phillips 66 National Championships August 6-10 in Irvine, California. Adrian, arguably the top sprinter in the world, will look to defend his “fastest man in the pool” title while Coughlin and Phelps can add to their already decorated resumes. The five-day meet is the sole qualifier for next month’s Pan Pacific Championships in Gold Coast, Australia and will help determine next year’s national and world championship teams. The meet will be broadcast live for seven hours on NBC Sports Group and Universal Network.

 

Teter Celebrates Special Olympics Unified Generation at White House…

The first action sports Special Olympics global ambassador, Hannah Teter, attended an event at the White House hosted by President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama that brought together Special Olympics athletes, volunteers and worldwide supporters of the Special Olympics movement. The night celebrated the work that Special Olympics has been doing to activate young people to fight inactivity, intolerance and injustice in their schools and communities.

 

Jorgensen: From Accountant to No.1 Triathlete…

Before Gwen Jorgensen became the world's no. 1 ranked female triathlete, she traded her childhood dream of an Olympic career for a different love, corporate taxation. The Wall Street Journal caught up with Jorgensen about her journey from an Ernst & Young accountant to world-leading triathlete. In only her fifth year as a triathlete, she became the first female to ever claim six WTS titles and has won four consecutive World Triathlon Series races this year.

The five-time national coach of the year has many interests beyond the pool such as his love for classical music, playing the piano, cooking and horseback riding.

Dominique Moceanu, the youngest American gymnast male or female to win an Olympic gold medal, is channeling her expertise towards a different sport. A member of the Magnificent Seven, Moceanu spoke with the Wall Street Journal  about helping CrossFit Games Contender Julie Foucher with handstand push-ups, her mental preparation and developing that "killer instinct" and overall body awareness.
