Coaches and Directors
Ben has a long history in swimming going back to the late 1950's where he first swam for the Hotchkiss School Varsity. He went on to earn NCAA All-America honors as a distance freestyler at American University. Ben continued his involvement in swimming while becoming an entrepreneur founding several companies. As a master's swimmer he set over 20 New England records, regularly placed in the top ten nationally in numerous evens in freestyle, butterfly and individual medley, won a National Championship in the 1000 freestyle and was ranked in the top 10 in the world several years in a row in middle and long distance freestyle. He began coaching professionally in 2006 for the Cape Cod YMCA and coached numerous swimmers to prominence including Marie Chamberlain who set a National YMCA record in the 100 backstroke. Ben had 2 former swimmers in the last Olympic trials. In 2016, Ben worked with Aquasafe to create the Firefish swim team.
Tim has developed as a successful age group, high school and finally a college swimmer at Bryant University. As an age group swimmer for the Cape Cod YMCA Makos, he qualified for the YMCA National championships. Tim set several team records as a member of the his high school team and for The Bryant University men's varsity team . Tim coaches all levels from Bronze through Gold.

Marie had a very successful age group career setting numerous records in Freestyle, backstroke, butterfly along with the 200 and 500 freestyle and medley relays. Along with many New England Championships, she qualified for YMCA National Championships at 13 and went on to set a national record in the 100 backstroke as a 16 year old. As a high school swimmer, she was state champion in the 100 yd backstroke all four years, setting a state high school record her senior year, and in the 100 butterfly for one year. Marie held every record but one at her high school. Marie went on to attend Division 1 powerhouse Indiana University where she swam all four years and earned All-America distinction in her sophomore year. Marie was also a member of the Indiana Medley Relay which set a Big Ten record. Marie swam a best time of 51.87 in the 100 yard backstroke in 2015. She also qualified and swam at the 2016 Olympic trials. Marie earned a degree in psychology, graduating with distinction and is currently on a 1 year hiatus until she resumes her graduate education.
Dave started competing in Minnesota when he was 8, and is no stranger to New England swimming. After moving to Andover in 1984, Dave swam for the Andover-North Andover YMCA, where he qualified for YMCA Nationals as a 14 year-old. After that season, Dave joined New England powerhouse Bernal's Gators where he was a member of multiple short and long course junior national teams. During his time with Gators, Dave attended Phillips Academy in Andover (class of 1989) where he was the captain both his junior and senior years, and held school records in the 50, 100 and 200 yard freestyle, as well as in the medley and free relays. Dave's 200 free mark of 1:40.89 set in 1989 was a New England Prep record for 12 years, an Andover record for 23 years, and his 100 free mark of 46.17 stood as the Andover record for 29 years. Dave continued swimming as a Freshman at Harvard and was a member the Crimson's Eastern Championship team. Dave's coaching experience includes 8 years as head coach in the Northern Virginia Swim League, as well as 1 year of USAS club coaching with Nation's Capital Swim Club (formerly Curl-Burke Swim Club)among the premier swim clubs in the USA. Now in his 15th year as a teacher, Dave currently teaches 7th grade mathematics at STEM Academy in Sandwich
Scott is a US Masters Swim level 2 coach. He is a triathlete with primary strength in cycling, then swimming and running. He competes at Olympic and half-ironman distances. Last year earned All-American in aqua-bike. A major accomplishment this season was 3rdoverall at the Sea to Summit triathlon where contestant bike/run up Mt Washington. He also competes in cyclocross racing each fall and winter.
