2025 Deaflympics Tokyo

Mark Cronk

Team USA is a few days away from departing for the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo, Japan, where deaf athletes from around the world will compete in 21 sports.  The swimming competition, in particular, will be extraordinarily exciting. World and Deaflympic records are sure to be set as a remarkable mix of Deaflympic legends and rising stars battle for the podium.

2025 will see the return of athletes from Russia and Belarus as Deaf Individual Neutral Athletes (DINA), who were banned from competition in 2022. Prior to 2022 these athletes dominated international deaf swimming.

There are also elite national level athletes making their first appearance in deaf sports, including Viola Scotto di Carlo from Italy who competed in the 2024 Tokyo Olympics.  USA's Carli Cronk will go head-to-head with di Carlo in several events.

Competition runs from November 20-26, 2025 at the Tokyo Aquatics Center
