Newsflash: Two Former UVRays Shine at US Open
Maddy Parker and Sean Honey shined brightly as former UVRays at the 3-7 December 2024 Toyota US Open Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Maddy, age 20, who joined UVRays in 2013 and swam with the club through her junior year in high school, raced to two individual US Open titles, winning both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 freestyle in personal-best times.

Competing for Southern Methodist University (she represented Washington State last year), Maddy was primed for the meet, having posted two personal bests (22.42 and 22.36) in the 50 on 21 November. She raced to a prelim time of 22.43 on Thursday, and then brought home gold at night with a personal record (PR) 22.26.
Maddy had a pair of 48.38 PR swims in the 100 on 23 November at the SMU Invite. Yesterday she bettered that mark by .02 seconds in prelims before trimming another .27 seconds off with a finals swim of 48.09 to win gold.
On Friday, Maddy placed fourth in the 200 free, swimming PRs in both prelims and finals. She cut .48 seconds off her previous best in prelims, racing to a 1:46.92, and then slashed another 1.23 seconds with a 1:45.69 in finals.
Sean, age 19, who started swimming with UVRays in 2012 and competed with Utah Valley Aquatics this past summer, is a sophomore at Penn State University. After prelims in the 400 individual medley (IM) on Friday, Sean was in first place, having raced to a 3:50.60. He then swam a 3:49.05 to place third overall. Sean also raced to a 1:46.69 in the 200 IM to place sixth in that event.on Thursday.
