Dress Rehearsal, Recital, and Picture Day
Classical Ballet Conservatory
Hello wonderful Conservatory families,
We have been hard at work putting together plans for a safe and socially distanced Beauty and the Beast. Here are the most important details you need to know:
Picture day will NOT be this week. Working with the health department, there was no way to figure out a safe and distanced way to do picture day at the studio without it being a 12 hour schedule. Instead, pictures will be taken after dancers finish onstage for their dress rehearsal.
For the recital to be as safe as possible, we have chosen to utilize an outdoor facility this year. For many of our students, school will be in session the week of the show. For these combined reasons, we will be doing EVERYTHING for Beauty and the Beast on
Saturday, August 22. (Dress rehearsal, pictures, and performance. All in the one day.)
Dress rehearsal that morning (with pictures being taken after assigned times), cast A performing in the afternoon show, and cast B performing in the evening show. Exact times are coming- we are still working with the amphitheater to figure out personnel and safety procedures for their end. The amphitheater we will be performing at has enough seats that were social distancing we will be able to accommodate 400 people in seats. It also has a wide expense of grass for those who would prefer her even more socially distancing. You can bring a picnic blanket and stay spread apart from other families and be able to relax and enjoy the show. As soon as some of these details with the amphitheater are cleaned up, we will send out a link to purchase tickets.
We will be having masks mandatory backstage from when dancers check-in all the way through until when they check out and leave the building. They will need to have them on the entire time they are backstage, and then they can take them off right before they come onstage and put them back on as they leave the stage.
Preparatory, Apprentice, CYB2, CYB, CBCII and Cbc classes will all be held backstage. There will be plenty of room at the amphitheater to have social distancing as well as rotating to assure CDC guidelines are met. If your child is in a pre-ballet or a kindergarten/1st grade class, for this year- due to the special circumstances-we will be having those students be in the audience with you. At the dress rehearsal we will explain to you how and when to deposit your child to a stage door for their dance, as well as pick up after. We ask you to be Courteous to those around you as you do this, and ask that you stay for the full show, regardless of when in the show your child may perform. It is important to teach proper etiquette to our young dancers, including cheering on their peers and not leaving before a show ends:)
Costumes have started being delivered. 🎉🎉 they will be sent home in class this week and next week. Ladies costumes are yours to keep. Our male students do not pay a costume fee, and as such your costumes are rentals. Please return them your first week back to class in September.
We are really excited to have the recital be a reality in just three weeks! It feels like the first burst of joy so far this year, and we can’t wait for you all to enjoy and participate in the magic.
I will be reposting the list of cast A/B to the social feed of the app later today if you need reminders:)
