Mini Marlins
Introduction to swimming for children.
Mini-Marlins 1: Our most basic swim group is a step up from traditional swim lessons. MM1 was designed as an introduction to competitive swimming in general and to help swimmers learn how to swim freestyle with proper side-breathing technique as well as learning to be comfortable floating on their back.
Requirements: Swimmers must be comfortable stepping feet first into water over their head and propelling themselves forward unassisted. Able to shove off the side and glide two body lengths face down and recover to vertical position.
Mini-Marlins 2: Our beginner swim group. MM2 is designed for younger swimmers new to swimming competitively will focus on conditioning their freestyle and learning a proper backstroke technique as well as learning technical basics for butterfly.
Requirements: Swimmers must be able to swim a full length, 25 meters, freestyle without stopping and while demonstrating proper side-breathing. Must be comfortable floating on their back.
Mini Marlins 3: Our program geared towards stronger young swimmers. Will focus on basic stroke development for all competitive strokes, including learning proper butterfly and breaststroke technique
Requirements: Swimmers must easily enter water and comfortably swim a 25 meter backstroke and freestyle without stopping and while demonstrating proper side-breathing.
Augusta Health-Adult & Child
Adult & Child is for children ages 9 months to 3 years to get in the water with their parent and become comfortable in a pool. It will be offered from 8:00-8:30AM for four Saturdays: Feb 4-25 or March 4-25. Each session will have 2-4 children and cost $80.
Augusta Health-New to the Pool
New to the Pool is for children ages 3 to 6 years to become comfortable in the water. The goal of New to the Pool is to prepare children for the Mini Marlins program. It will be offered in three time slots for four Saturdays: 8:35-9:05AM, 9:10-9:40AM, and 9:45-10:15AM. Sessions will be Feb 4-25 and March 4-25. Each session will have 2 children and cost $80.
Sessions will be held unless a safety issue arises. In the
event of a cancellation SMAC will contact families directly. Please assume
Mini Marlins is happening unless you hear from a SMAC coach. Makeups will
only be offered on Fridays for sessions cancelled by SMAC.
Swimmers who do not meet the minimum requirements of their
group shall not be issued a refund. Please read the requirements carefully.
