Coach Doug Ellett was born and raised in Richmond Virginia, where he swam as an age group swimmer from 10-18 years old and then swam for Old Dominion University. He was a four year letter award winner during his career at ODU from 1986-1990, where he swam 100/200 Fly and 200/400 IM. After graduation he attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his Master’s degree in Exercise Science in 1993. He then enrolled in Physical Therapy School at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State), and received his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. During his working career he has been swimming to train for triathlons of various lengths from sprint distance to the Ironman distance. He completed Ironman Florida in 2010. Coach Doug leads the VTAC team located in Victoria Texas and has swimmers from age 7-18 years old. Coach Doug is able to handle a variety of levels in each practice from first year swimmers to those that qualify for sectionals by mixing a learning environment with a strong training environment. While in charge of all training groups he works mainly with the High School, Silver and Gold groups. He is actively recruiting for new team members in all age groups and wants to grow age group swimming in the Victoria area.
