Groundhog Meet Lead Up Info
Please remember these important dates as look forward to our 2020 Groundhog meet:
January 9th: Club Showcase/Mock Meet - Warm ups start at 4:25PM (this will be taking place instead of normal practice for the evening)
This evening for learning all around. All parents and swimmers that haven’t yet been part of a meet will be able to experience this! Parents, please stop into the Rec Community room to check in after your swimmer has changed to:
- Swim-a-thon packet turn-in (All envelopes and money are due this evening so that prizes can be tallied for the event)
- Groundhog meet volunteer sign-up (an experienced member will help to match you will the right spot for you, especially if this is your first meet with CAST). Any positions in “running the meet” (ie timers or timing table)- you will be invited to practice so you feel confident on the day of!
- New parent help – Not sure how to mark your swimmer? Not sure where to go or where to be? How does this whole swim meet mess work?? Veteran parents will be available in the Community Room to prepare you in any way you need!! Also, please look over the Parent Handbook for additional help/tips/and parent expectations. And always... when in doubt, ask a Board Member - we are here to help each parent parents.
- Please refrain from approaching the coaching staff with anything other than coaching questions leading up to our meet! They are focusing on preparing your children!!
January 10th: Friday Team-Bonding - Practice focusing on Starts/Turns/Relay Exchanges in preparation for the GH Meet. 3:45PM-5PM (All swimmers welcome)
January 17th: Movie and Swim-a-thon Awards Night for the swimmers while available parents can help with GROUNDHOG MEET SETUP. If your swimmer has a Thrivent “Live Generously Shirt”, please have them wear it to this event!!
- 5PM-7PM: Movie Night for swimmers in the HS Auditorium
- 3PM-Close: Set up for the GH Meet in the CHS Rec Center.
January 18th: Groundhog Meet
- Swimmers – Morning Warm-ups start at 7.50am. Check in with a CAST coach. To help with team bonding, we encourage all swimmers stay on deck- with the team- throughout the entire session. New parents: ask a veteran parent on how to best prepare your swimmer for the day!
- Volunteers – Check in with the LEAD in your given area after your swimmer(s) have arrived.
- More information will be emailed as volunteer slots are filled!
- NEW THIS YEAR: We ask that all timers wear a Thrivent “Live Generously Shirt”. No CAST apparel behind the blocks, BUT feel free to wear your photo pin to celebrate your swimmer during the meet. All other volunteers are welcome to wear CAST Apparel.
