Welcome to the Fall/Winter 2023-24 Season!

Emily Paradis

Hello VAST families,

Welcome to the 23-24 fall/winter swim season!

I hope that everyone has had a great last few weeks of summer, and are ready to be back in the pool! I am very excited to welcome all of the new VAST families to the team.

I have a few important notes to go through about this first month:

  • First day of practice: Our first day of swim practice will be Tuesday September 5th (some groups 1st day will be Wednesday the 6th)

The practice schedule can be found here Verona Area Swim Team - Resource Viewer (teamunify.com)

  • Dryland: We will be delaying the start of dryland to help kids adjust to school/swim schedules the first few weeks. Starting school and late-night practices can be rough the first month, and we want to make sure swimmers are enjoying coming to practice (and not falling asleep in school)!
    • dryland will start the week of September 18th

  • New parent meeting: September 13th we will be having a new parent meeting at the Aquatic Center from 6-7pm. This meeting is highly encouraged for all new families to attend. We will be going over information that is much easier to walk through in person—plus we would love to meet you!

  • Season kickoff party: we will be having a season kickoff event at Ten Pin Bowling Alley on September 17th from 12-3. We will have pizza and soda in the banquet room—and of course the Packer game on! All family members are invited. Please RSVP through TeamUnify (I will email the event out), and in the notes section let us know how many will be attending!

  • Coaching:  We have a few new coaches on staff this season—please check out our coach Bio’s here Verona Area Swim Team - Coaches (teamunify.com)
  • Breakdown of group coaches are as follows:
    • WHITE: Lead coaches are Mike Hruska and Maci Parent, with Tim Liebhold assisting
    • SILVER: Lead coach is Breanna Ruffolo, with Tim Liebhold, Emma Neumann, and Maci Parent assisting.
    • GOLD: Lead coach is Caleb Meixner and myself (Coach Emily), with Breanna Ruffolo assisting.
    • BLACK: Lead coach is myself (Emily), with Caleb assisting
    • Senior 1&2: Lead coach is myself, with Caleb and Tim assisting

We are all very excited to get the season going and cannot wait to work with your swimmers! Coach’s emails are listed with their Bio, but some are still in the process of getting set-up. Please check back with the updated email addresses for your group coach.

Meet schedule: The current meet schedule can be found here Verona Area Swim Team - Meet schedule (teamunify.com)  this schedule is tentative (some meets we have to wait to see if we are invited to attend). If there are any changes or additions I will email them out as soon as I know. Meet sign-up will not be available for a few weeks. As teams add the registration, I will email out an invite to all team members.

USA Swimming Membership:  New swimmers that DO NOT have a USA Swimming membership will have to register/purchase a membership before the 1st day of practice. You will receive a separate email with instructions on how to do that.

That is everything for now, I am sure you will hear more from me soon—GO VAST!!
