Swim America is a swimming program that turns out swimmers by repetition and building on skills taught in previous levels.  

 

Level  1 – "Bubbles, Bubbles, Bubbles!"

Skills to be learned:Gradual water comfort, movement in water, breath holding and release, submersion of the face in water, blowing bubbles, wall bobs with proper air exchange.

Level 2 – "Floats!"

Skills to be learned:Front floats and back floats, being calm and comfortable in the water.

Level 1 and 2 are taught together

Level 3 – "Kicks and Jumps!"

Skills to be learned: jumping from edge into the pool, comfort in deeper water, kicking to move in water rotating the body from front to back to front while kicking. Beginning to tread water and work on straight leg, flexible ankle kicking.

Level 4 – "Side Glide!"

Skills to be learned:kicking on the side, breathing to the side, freestyle arms added to the kick, treading water.

Level 5 – "Freestyle and Backstroke!"

Skills to be learned: freestyle with side breathing, strong kick while swimming, backstroke.

Level 6 – "Endurance and Technique for Long Axis Strokes!"

Skills to be learrned: extended freestyle swimming, jumping into deep water and tread water, sitting dive, kneeling dive, standing dive (from edge, or block if willing), extended backstroke swimming.

Pre-Club: "Breaststroke, Butterfly, Open Turns, Flip Turns and More!"

Skills to be learned; breaststroke kick and swim, butterfly kick and swim, diving from the blocks, endurance in freestyle and backstroke, flip turns, open turns.
