Hello Senior Silver and Gold Swimmers and Parents,

Here are some important updates and reminders as we head into the week of December 2nd - 8th.  

1.  Mark your calendars.  We have a Senior Silver and Gold Holiday Gathering Saturday, December 14th!   

2. Reminder of our continued strategic weekly training plan.

  • Monday:  Heavy Kick / Endurance.
  • Tuesday:  Speed!
  • Wednesday:  Pace / Tempo Training.  (Challenge Set!) 
  • Thursday:  Drill / Recovery
  • Friday:  Race!
  • Saturday:  NO practice due to Palm Desert Meet. 
  • Sunday:  Recovery / Reflect / Plan. ​

3.  December AB Meet @ Palm Desert December 7th & 8th. 

  • Updates and Reminders will be sent out as they become available.
  • Please contact me if you have any questions.  

4.  Mark your Calendar.

  • Senior Group meeting Wednesday December 4th at MMHS 5:30 PM.
  • At this meeting we will be discussing Safe Sport, Bullying, Sportsmanship, and Social Media use.
  • Practices will follow starting at 6:30 PM at MMHS. 
  • Parents are welcome to sit in on the meeting.    

5.  What is up with the motivational photo attached to this note?  

  • Last week we had a very challenging college level "Challenge Set".  
  • The challenge of this set was to race 150 yards and be within 6 seconds of your 150 split of your best 200 free time.  Details!
  • Once you make a total of 12 efforts, you are done!    
    • Then, create positive energy and cheer on your teammates who are still swimming and persevering, trying to get them to 12 within 20 opportunities! 
  • What are we learning?  Why are we doing this?    
    • There are many races within races.   
    • Example: 
      • Where do you need to be at the 75 of your 100 breaststroke in order to reach a new best time?  
      • How fast do you need to be at the 1st 25 of your 50 free in order to go 21 or 23 or 25?  
      • How do you break a minute in the 100 fly?  Where do you need to be at the 50?
  • The 20x150 Challenge Set requires a ton of Perseverance. 
  • YOU WILL FAIL along the way.  
    • YOU WILL KEEP GOING!  
      • YOU WILL PERSEVERE!
        • You'll never know unless you GO! 
          • Know what you need to GO! 
  • 20x150's @ 3:30 Free. 
  • Let's do it again this week!
