Pre-Meet Information for 2025 Capital City Classic - Update #1

This is an outdoor meet! All racing will take place outdoors and all meet areas including crash zones are outdoors - please plan appropriately so that you are prepared for roughly 4 hours outdoors on any days your swimmer is racing. Please make sure your swimmer is equipped & prepared for this meet with tinted/mirrored goggles, plenty of sunscreen, and appropriate clothing to stay warm/dry/cool depending on the weather!

YDSC Relays - Please check to see if your swimmer is included in a relay and include this on their hand/arm if they are aged 10&Under. - There are no relays at this meet!

  • If your swimmer participated in the Summer Sizzler, you will most likely not see their new best times entered for this meet. By the time Southeastern Swim Club sent us the results file, the update deadline had already passed for Capital City Classic and the host team was no longer able to accept time updates. I did try to manually add as many of those new best times as I could prior to the update deadline, but I was not able to get all events updated.

Warm-Up & Arrival Times - 

  • Friday Mile Session - Warm-up at 1:00pm, Arrive to the facility by 12:45pm
    • ​Mile swimmers will need to provide their own Timer & Lap Counter - Timers must be aged 13+ but Lap Counters can be any age as long as they're responsible and can accurately count for the entirety of the mile.
  • Friday Distance All Ages (10U 200 Free, 11O 400 Free, & 11O 400 IM) - Warm-Up at 4:00pm, Arrive to the facility by 3:45pm
  • Saturday Morning 11&Overs - Warm-up at 7:00am, Arrive to the facility by 6:45am
  • Saturday Afternoon 10&Unders ​Warm-Up at 12:00pm, Arrive to the facility by 11:45am
  • Sunday Morning 11&Overs - Warm-Up at 7:00am, Arrive to the facility by 6:45am
  • Sunday Afternoon 10&Unders - Warm-Up at 12:00pm, Arrive to the facility by 11:45am

TEAM WARM-UP IS NOT OPTIONAL! Our expectation is that each swimmer participating in the session arrives early to the facility and gets in the water on time for warm-up. Please prepare accordingly to make sure your swimmer is not late getting into the water. This is disruptive and makes things difficult for the other swimmers on our team and our coaching staff. Swimmers who have not arrived for warm-up within 15 minutes of our team's warm-up period starting will be automatically scratched from the session and will not be allowed to participate in the meet. 

Meet Fees & Date of Charge - Fees are $6 per individual event, $22 per swimmer host team participation surcharge, and a $5 per swimmer YDSC Coach Travel Fee. You can use the swimmer entries document at the top of this email to add up your swimmer's fees total that will be charged for this meet. Meet fees will be charged to swimmer's accounts on Friday, June 6th.

Additional Reminders - 

  • Please read the meet packet thoroughly prior to the meet as it has additional information that may be useful to you. This email just hits the highlights for the meet and does not mention everything in the packet. 
  • Locker rooms are for swimmers only - there is absolutely no exception to this. There will be restrooms available for non-athletes. SafeSport rules require athletes & non-athletes use seperate facilities.
  • Individual swimmers in the 10&Under and 11-12 age group categories will receive awards for 1st - 8th place.
  • There will be no admission cost for spectators. Heat sheets and results will be available on the MeetMobile app.
  • Concessions will be available at the meet.  There is a concessions area on the south end of the building with access inside the gate for swimmers and access outside the gate for spectators.
  • Positive Check-in - This is a positive check-in meet. Coaches will be given check-in sheets before the warm-ups for each session. Check-in sheets will be due 30 minutes before the start of the session. Please be prompt in returning your check-in sheets so the meet can start on time and coaches, officials and spectators can receive heat sheets before the start of the session
  • Facility Notes – 

    Pool deck – 

    ·       Only swimmers, coaches, officials and meet workers will be allowed on the main pool deck area.

    ·       Coaches will be allowed to bring tents on the pool deck but please only on the building side of  the deck.

    ·       Coaches may leave their tents and chairs overnight, but we cannot guarantee their security. 

    Athlete/Team Seating – Athlete seating will be in the park surrounding the pool. We suggest teams bring tents for their swimmers. Tents can be left overnight but we cannot guarantee their safety.  Please do not set up team areas inside the fenced area/pool deck. 

    Spectators Areas – Spectator viewing is available on the upper pool deck on the west side of the pool and from the viewing deck/balcony on top of the building on the east side of the pool. Parents are not allowed on the lower/main pool deck. Spectator tents are not allowed inside the fenced areas. 

    Locker Rooms – For the safety of our athletes the locker rooms are reserved for swimmers only. Coaches, officials, parents, or spectators are NOT allowed in the locker rooms. 

    Spectators, coaches, officials, meet workers restrooms are available inside the Nelson Center building. 

    Parking – Parking is available in various parking lots around the facility. Please do not park in the grass (the park district police will issue tickets for those parking in the grass).

    Meet Shirts/Hoodies  iDesignables has designed a fantastic meet shirt (see meet logo above). They will be selling these meet shirts on-site on Saturday and Sunday. You can customize your T-shirt/hoodie with many different colors and options.
