Coaches and Directors
Hello everyone, my name is Alex Sabo and I am super excited to be starting as the coach for the TYAC Swim Team! While I am originally from Maryland, I have been living and working in the Richmond area for the past year and am getting ready to begin graduate school this fall. I swam competitively all my life, swimming at my local YMCA through high school and later continuing on to a Division III college. I love being outdoors, hiking, and spending time on the James River whenever I can. I am looking forward sharing my many years of experience with the next generation of swimmers!
LaTonya Wright Moyer is the founder and CEO of Black Girls Do Swim, an organization that she established to address the lack of diversity found in competitive and leisure swimming in Richmond VA. She finished her 1st Pink Power Sprint Triathlon in 2014 and somehow made it through 300 yards of the pool despite not knowing how to swim proficiently. Fast forward six years and she has learned to swim, completed numerous Sprint Triathlons, is a certified Swim Lesson Instructor II at the Frank J. Thorton Aquatic Center teaching at all levels, and has been involved for the past 5 years at different levels of USA Swimming and Summer League events such as Clerk of Course, Strokes and Turns Judge and just "Swim Mom". She started the first Sports Backers Run Club at All Saints Catholic School and hopes that her time spent as a coach and time spent at competitive swim events will benefit the swim team at TYAC.
