Coaches and Directors
I am super excited to be returning with the Manchester YMCA swim team and working with your children this upcoming year. I have been coaching for over 23 years, mostly at the summer league level with the Shenandoah Sharks. I have been the head coach of the Monacan Chiefs boys and girls swim teams earning regional and state championship titles! I enjoy working with all ages and ability levels of kids, be it novices just learning to swim, or the seasoned veteran who has competed at national meets. My expectations are that your child will bring a willingness to learn and work hard, and strive for goals that we set together.
I am a firm believer in hard work and good sportsmanship, win or lose. Our mission this season is to build upon what the swimmers have already learned, concentrating on stroke technique, starts, turns, and finally, speed. Practice attendance is crucial to any sport or activity one does. I expect your child to be at the number of practices that they commit to at the beginning of the year. Hard work during practice translates into good results at meets. We are looking to add some fun social events to our calendar this year, as well as post meet get togethers at a local restaurant. I feel it is important to get to know the kids both in and out of the pool. Please feel free to contact me before or after practice should you have any concerns. You can also email at [email protected] Again, I am looking forward to a successful season; hope you are as well.
