Brandon Fain Head Coach

Brandon has served as head coach of the Schertz YMCA Swim Team since its inception in 2018 after serving as the head coach of the New Braunfels YMCA Swim Team 2016-2018. As an athlete, he competed for San Jacinto Aquatic Club, HOTS and Blue Tide Aquatics in the Houston area competing as a TAGS-level athlete.  In high school, Brandon was a UIL Region swim meet medalist in the 500 free and a varsity water polo player for Humble High School.  Brandon attended the University of Texas at Austin and coached Texas Aquatics while completing his Bachelor of Arts.  Brandon as works full-time as a sales team lead for PEPCO Sales and Marketing. Brandan and his wife Angie have a daughter Sammi that works as a swim instructor and lifeguard at the YMCA. 

Doug Hammen Coach

Doug has been a part of the Storm Swim Team since its inception in 2018 and has been coaching in the community for over a decade.  Doug brings many years of swimming and coaching experience with him.  Doug is an Ohio native and Air Force Academy graduate.  After he retired from the Air Force he started teaching and coaching high school.  He has worked for both North East ISD and SCUC ISD.  Doug has been the head coach of the Schertz Stingrays for several years.  Doug and his wife have adult children as well as a daughter who is attending TAMU in the fall of 2023.

Angie Fain Coach

Coach Fain has been involved with the Storm Swim since 2019 and is beginning her 25th high school season in the state of Texas coaching at Pflugerville, North Shore/Galena Park, and Steele HS.  She currently serves as the SCUCISD Aquatics Coordinator helping coach both Clemens and Steele High School while teaching English 4 at Steele HS.

She has over 32 years of experience overseeing swim lessons as an ASCA SwimAmerica Director, over a decade of summer league seasons, and has been involved with USA Swimming since 1992 working with age group developmental through national level athletes. She has been on staff for Texas Aquatics, Blue Tide Aquatics and North Channel Aquatics and founded The Great Hills Swim Team in 1995.  She has been selected by USA Swimming to attend a Women in Coaching Conference and has recently been invited to be a 2023 ASCA Fellow conducting research to benefit our sport.

Coach Fain is a part of Texas A&M Class of 1991 and attended UT-Austin completing her M. Ed. in School Counseling in 1998.  She is married to Brandon Fain, head coach of the Schertz YMCA Storm swim team, and has 2 older children Brendan and Ashleigh who work in the public schools as a band and drill team director in Houston, and a daughter Samantha, a YMCA swim lesson instructor and lifeguard.

Ana Bruton Coach

Coach Bruton is entering her first season with Storm Swim Team! She brings years of in-depth knowledge of the sport. Additionally, Coach Bruton has an ongoing interest in coaching athletes to work toward ever-improving physical and mental strength- in and out of the water. Coach Bruton is an Arizona native, who grew up swimming competitively which led her to earn a Division-I swimming scholarship to San Diego State University, in San Diego, California. She earned her bachelor's and master's degree from SDSU, before completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at JSU. Coach Bruton is a mom to 4 amazing and wild kids, has a career she loves, and is married to driven & fun USAF pilot, Patrick.

Ben Sjulson Coach

Ben's swimming career started when he was eight years old in Wisconsin.  He swam with several club team and was a varsity swimming in high school where he was the captain placing 5th/6th respectively in the 100 & 50 Free in the Wisconsin High School State Meet.  While in high school, Ben taught swim lessons with SwimAmerica and after he graduated, he coached Wave Summer Swim League and Ozaukee Aquatics for two summers.  

Ben studied electrical engineering at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa where he continued coaching with the Ames Cyclones Aquatics Club.  Ben became a masters swimming in January 2023 and began coaching masters in the Fall of 2023.  Outside of swimming, Ben is an electrical and controls engineer.  Ben is married to his wife Brittany who serves as the director of events operations at the Marriot Rivercenter and Riverwalk hotels in downtown San Antonio.

Madison Wright Coach

Coach Madison is starting her first season with the Storm Swim Team! 

She has been working at the Schertz YMCA since 2021 as a Swim Instructor and Lifeguard. Her strengths are nurturing the development of young swimmers while creating a positive learning environment, along with a commitment to water safety. 
Madison graduated from UTSA this past summer with a Bachelor of Science degree. 
Additionally, she swam for the Stingrays summer league throughout middle and high school, along with being on the Varsity Tennis team at Randolph HS.
