Q&A!

1.  What equipment does my swimmer need?

For practice:  One piece bathing suit, swim cap, goggles, water bottle and towel
For competitive meets: Team suit (available for purchase end of September), goggles (an extra pair is encouraged), swim cap (team cap required for meets), water bottle, healthy snacks, a towel, and a great attitude!

Each group also has an equipment list.  It is recommended that swimmers purchase their equipment so they are ensured they have the necessary items at each practice, although the Y does have a small reserve of equipment that swimmers can borrow if needed.

2.  How do I log onto Team Unify?

Please go to https://www.teamunify.com/team/macc/page/home (or download the OnDeck app).  Register for an account or log-in to your existing account.  By clicking the various links, you will find information about upcoming events (e.g. swim meets) under "Events and Competition" and check your current balance due.  Please note that there are some different features between the website and the app.  For example, the OnDeck app shows your swimmer's best times under "Membership."  For questions about Team Unify/OnDeck, please contact Adrian Fang at [email protected]

3.  How do I pay meet fees?

You may pay meet fees two ways: 1) Add a debit/credit card under "Billing" on your Team Unify/OnDeck account which will be billed monthly in arrears for all meet fees (preferred method) or 2) Make a check payable to CYCAPA and place it in the CYCAPA folder in the aquatics office at the YMCA (please monitor your amount due under the "Billing" tab on Team Unify/OnDeck). For questions regarding meet fees, please contact Erika Barley at [email protected].

4.  What are the criteria for my swimmer to be moved up to the next training group?

The head coach will evaluate swimmers for progression to the next training group and communicate to both the swimmer and their parents what is required to move up.  If unsure of your Fall / Winter training group placement, please contact Coach Anthony at [email protected].

5.  What is expected of parents?

Parents are expected to volunteer throughout the season as Timers at swim meets, for various jobs when CMY hosts meets and for fundraising events.  Please reach out to Amanda Addlesberger via email at [email protected] for more information about how to volunteer.  Without volunteers, our team may not be able to participate in competitive swim meets.

7.  Who do I reach out to if I have other questions?

Please contact Coach Anthony for questions related to your swimmer and the Charger program.  For parent questions related to volunteering, the CYCAPA Board of Directors is a group of swim parents that volunteer to assist the coaches to help make the program positive and successful for all of our swimmers.  A list of the current board members is available here:  https://www.teamunify.com/team/macc/page/system/coaches.
