Sturgeons Bathing Suit Recommendations

Suits should fit close to the body with no loose or baggy fabric. Every suit loosens up with wear, so purchase ones that are snug fitting knowing that they will stretch. Correctly fitted suits prevent drag and make practice much easier. For girls, we recommend competition suits rather than recreation suits as they have smoother fabrics and no additional decorations attached. For the boys, without straps to keep them up, tight suits that stay put prevent any accidental exposure when diving off the blocks! We highly recommend getting the correct type of suit for competitive swimming. Wearing long sleeve sun shirts or baggy swim trunks will make practice exponentially harder for your swimmer!

If you are unsure of sizing, when ordering a new suit, please stop in before or after practice for help from a coach. Sun & Snow in Plymouth will also help with sizing and has suits of all sizes available to try on. If ordering online, please read the sizing details carefully and take measurements if necessary.

To help extend the life of your suits, do not wash them in the washing machine and NEVER put them in the dryer. You can hand wash them in the sink, roll in a towel to remove excess water, and hang to dry. If you look at the materials listed when purchasing, a suit with a higher percentage of polyester will last longer. Typically they have some lycra or spandex in them to have a little stretch so they are easier to get on and off.

Please ask a coach if you have any questions!
