Flushing Sprint meet and Condors NCAA Format Invite RECAP
The 92nd Street Y Flying Dolphins competed in two meets the weekend of January 28th-30th, racking up impressive swims at the Condors NCAA Format Invitational in West Nyack, NY, and the Flushing Y Fran Schnarr Sprint Meet, in Flushing , NY .
At the Condors NCAA Format Invitational, Molly Brickman made the final for the Women’s Senior 200 Free swimming an impressive 1:57.74, Sophie Halper qualified for Senior Mets in the Women’s Senior 200 Free swimming a 2:00.61, and Sappha O’Meara qualified for Senior Mets in the Women’s Senior 200 Breast swimming a 2:36.04. All seniors swam their best times; Carly Fried swam a 2:37.11 in the Women’s Senior 200 Breast, Jessica Lipton swam a 1:10.47 in the Women’s Senior 100 Fly, and Sophie Siegel swam a 1:04.20 in the Women’s Senior 100 back. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!
At the Flushing Y Fran Schnarr Sprint Meet, senior team member’s; Leta Giordano qualified for Zones in the 50 fly with a time of 30.41 in the Women’s (11-12), Alec Kahn qualified for JO’s in the 100 IM with a time of 1:11.89 in the Men’s (11-12), and Jessica Weiss qualified for Zones in the 100 IM with a time of 1:09.87 in the Women’s (11-12). All seniors swam best times or close to their best times; Carly Feinblatt went 5 for 5 with best times, Amy Hosking nailed her 50 breast with a 37.05, Natalie Young dropped an impressive four seconds in the 50 breast stroke, Natalie Brickman had best times in three events, Liana Monderer had best times in two events, Skye and Sierra both swam under the 33 mark in the 50 fly. Awesome :)
The junior’s team participated in a strong training meet at the Flushing Y Fran Schnarr Sprint Meet. All swimmers swam near their best times, adding a few qualifying times: Lucy Elliot swam a 31.62 in the Women’s (10 & under) 50 free, making JO’s, Alexandra Feigin swam a 42.05 in the Women’s (10 & under) 50 back, making Silvers, and Evan Lipton splashed in with Zone cut in the 50fly and Jo's in the 100 IM. Super :)
At the Flushing Y Fran Schnarr Sprint Meet, a few Dolphins and Flippers team members competed. Two Dolphins team members, Wai-sze Fong and Allison Grossman had impressive times. Wai-sze swam a 50.29 in the Women’s (10 & under) 50 breast, and Allison Grossman swam a 1:49.34 in the Women’s (11-12) in the 100 IM. Five of the Flippers team members competed. They all swam their best. Ella Green and Brother Gavin Green had impressive times. Ella swam a 42.99 in the Women’s (10 & under) 50 free, and Gavin swam a 43.02 in the Men’s (10 & under) 50 free, Emma and Eric Berg both swam very good long strokes and Julia Hornstein had a great 100 IM with a time of 2:19.41.
