Age Group I

AGI is composed of the youngest competitive swimmers in the Flying Dolphins program. The main emphasis of this group is teaching the fundamentals of the competitive strokes. This consists of kicking, drilling, and the development of the skills necessary for competitive swimming. |

Qualifications |
New swimmers must try out in September. Coaches will look for familiarity of all four strokes as well as comfort level in the water and the ability to take instruction. |

Meet Requirements |
AGI swimmers are encouraged to attend one meet a month. All 8 & Unders are required to attend the 8U Championships in March. |
Age Group II
|
AGII is the second-level development group where swimmers continue to refine skills and begin competing more regularly. Practice and meet attendance are mandatory. The primary objective of AGII will be to develop a strong technical and aerobic base to carry swimmers into the rest of their swimming careers. Interval training will be introduced. |

Junior

The Junior group is designed to provide young swimmers, aged 9-12, with an opportunity to further develop their swimming skills and love for the sport. Swimmers in the Junior group will build upon the fundamentals they've learned in earlier stages. Our goal is to lay a strong foundation for their future swimming careers. Interval training will be introduced. |

Age Group III

The Junior group is where swimmers continue the transition from technique training to more endurance work. Swimmers will continue to focus on advanced technical skills and will work on developing their aerobic base with distance freestyle and IM training. Race strategy and meet preparation will also be emphasized. This group represents the highest level of Age Group swimming at YFD. |

First-time swimmers will be accepted on a limited basis. Coaches will look for great technique as well as speed in tryouts.
Most new swimmers will come from within the team. Coaches will look at times, dedication, work ethic, and maturity. |

Swimmers in Age Group III are required to attend one swim meet a month and are expected to attend all championship meets for which they qualify. |
Senior I

The Senior 1 group is dedicated to refining the skills and abilities of swimmers aged 12 and over. Our program focuses on further developing their competitive edge and enhancing their passion for swimming. Swimmers in this group have typically progressed from the Junior group and are looking to take their abilities to the next level. |

The Senior II group is a transition group from Age Group to Senior level swimming. Practices will emphasize good technique as well as building endurance and gaining speed. Swimmers will learn about nutrition, fitness, and racing strategies. |

National
|
The national group represents the highest level of competition at YFD. Athletes in this group must demonstrate exceptional commitment, work ethic, and a desire to become the best swimmers they can be. Swimmers will aim to compete at the highest levels of Metro swimming as well as the state, national, and international level. Emphasis will be placed on developing the complete athlete both in and out of the pool. |

Qualifications |
All promotions to the National group will come from joint decisions between the Director and the Lead coaches of the AG III, Senior II and National groups. Practice/meet attendance, work ethic, times, and training ability will all be considered.
A written essay is also required as well as a meeting with the Director and the Nat Gr Lead Coach. |
